I like to go where people say I shouldn't. I go there looking for pain & love. And I never fail to find both, sometimes in the same thing.

Cheese Puffs

Yesterday was Dine for Life. If you ate at certain restaurants 50% of the cost of your meal went to the HIV/AIDS center in town. We ate at a nice restaurant downtown & parked in a parking garage. When we left two ladies were working in the booth where you pay when you drive out. They had off-brand cheese puffs. I imagined that off-brand cheese puffs would taste like foam or cardboard. I said aloud "I wonder if off-brand cheese puffs taste as good." So my friend who was driving asked the ladies how they were. They said they were good & said "here, you want to try some." I was full from my meal, but there are some things you just can't say no to & one is the parking garage ladies offering you cheese puffs. Really? I mean, how often does that happen? And they were right! They were just as good as name brand kinds. No more name brand cheese puffs for me, Kroger brand is great!

Music & Community

Thursday night I ran to the drug store. By ran, I mean drove...anyway, as I went by the music store in my neighborhood, I saw a group of old men and a few old women sitting outside of it in folding chairs playing guitars & banjos & such & singing bluegrass. On the way back they were still there so I rolled all my windows down and drove by really really slow. It made me smile & wish I had been going for a walk rather than driving.

b.b. gun no more

When cars are parked on both sides of my street, it is not big enough for 2 cars to pass so one car has to pull over & wait for the other to pass. Today on the way home I did that & had my window down. All of a sudder I heard "Jill!" I look over & 2 of the nieghborhood boys are on one of their front porches so I turned my music down & said hi. One of them says "Guess what happened to me." I ask what & he says "I ain't got a b.b. gun no more."
"Why not?"
"It broke."

Bikers

The other day I was at the walk-up Dairy Queen at the end of my block. A white guy on a bike rode by rapping loudly, but not well at all. Then the other people at the DQ said "&that is why video cameras were invented."

Then like 3 minutes later a guy rode by on a bike & had a crate on the back of his bike with a chicken in it. After I got my food at DQ I went home to eat it on my front porch. While I was eating the same guy rode by my house. This time no chicken. I wonder where the chicken went.

This Is Why I Love Where I Live

I just got back from Kroger. The Kroger I go to is always an interesting experience, but today was definitely the most unbelievable! It started as I was parking. An old man in a suit jacket was walking & I stopped to let him pass but he waved me on in an extravagant way to let me go first & then he did a little dance. I thought "aw, that's fun." Then we were both in the produce section. He did a little manuver to toss items into his cart & I told him "nice!" He didn't say anything though. Then I was getting apples. He came up by the apples to & was looking at some & then said "oh look at these." I looked & he was holding a white pet rat. Then he put it in a pocket inside his jacket & walked away. I go "he's cute." The man just kind of nodded & walked away. Really? Did that really happen? I couldn't believe it & had no idea how to react. I just laughed the rest of the time I did my shopping.

Then when I went by the discout Easter stuff an old lady picked up a stuffed sheep & said "Oh what a cute sheep!" really loudly & then just started laughing & shaking it in front of her face.

Wow.

Dismembered Foot

Today I went to my car to go to lunch and sitting on the road right beside my car was a plastic doll's foot. It had on a high heel. That was it, just the foot.
